Year Away!

Hello Everyone,
Hope you enjoyed the virtual community blog! Its now March so only a short time until college is finished, its set me thinking about my plans. With a couple of friends from college we hope to go to America. Now they want to go by end of summer as far as I know, I think it will be closer to Februrary when I go, my brother is living in New Zealand and my family and me plan to spend Christmas there,we dont really get excited about Christmas but this one we will as its been a year since we seen them! He is near Christchurch we all just need to start saving, so busy year ahead, America and New Zealand. Here's a picture maybe you can guess what it is, hopefully I get to see it sometime next year! Anyone out there been to America?

Virtual Communities

Hello All,
Hope you all enjoyed the week off just was not long enough!
What is the story with brand communities? While I must admit I think they are and can be very interesting and really keep you up to date I recently learned of one, Starbucks Gossip, a brand community for a coffee, well I certainly dont see the point or reason for that one! The idea of blogging about the coffee business, random to me! What about virtual communities like Second Life, how can people join and use it, how they can sit at their computer and live out this second life it is truly beyond me! would it not be better to actually go and experience it for real?Who even thinks of these ideas and who uses them? What is the buzz and the hype all about, are they the future? If so then am I missing out on something? Is there a reason so obvious, yet im oblivious to me, that these have become so popular? I dont feel a hole or a gap where I need a second life! I cant help but wonder about the changes here, I know when I was a child we didnt have a computer until I was 13 now here we are 7 years later with these virtual communites. Where is it all heading? Any fans of brand/virtual communities out there? Let me know what you think?
